This month’s Seasons’ Eatings recipe is a doozy. A boozy doozy, to be precise.
This is a recipe for Christmas, but it’s in the calendar for this month as – like many festive recipes – it’s one which you can begin making ahead of time. The Christmas fruit mix (with the entirely optional brandy) becomes more and more delicious if you make it ahead of time and let it marinate in the fridge until you’re ready to get messy.
And when I say messy, I mean really really messy. I’ll tell you no lies – these are fiddly to make, and I’ll eat my sombrero if you don’t get fruit mince and chocolate all over your kitchen. They’re also very much a treat – make them small. And if you’re giving them to someone for a present, keep them in the freezer until gift-giving time. They have a mysterious habit of disappearing from the fridge!
If you’re keen to join us while we make some other gorgeous gifts for the festive season, come to the Christmas Gift and Treat-Making Workshop on Sunday 15 November. This is going to be a whole lot of fun; it’s a hands-on workshop where you’ll get to make and take away a number of gorgeous treats (edible and skincare). You’ll be well ahead of the Christmas madness! Spaces are very limited in this workshop so if you’re keen, you’ll want to book soon. Sweet!
